“The Virgin Mary was far from being the slightly simple-minded woman that a certain literature and tradition present to us. She was truly a great spiritual Master, a healer of the soul and the body, a mystic on the path of initiation into the mysteries of God.

To say that Mary was simply a human mother is to disregard the wisdom of the Essenes. Mary bathed in this wisdom before the birth of her physical body. It was wisdom that permeated the milk flowing from the breast of her mother. Mary was an initiate in a School of Mysteries, heiress to the teachings of Zoroaster, of the pharaohs and of Moses. Of course, there was in her a human mother, that is certain, but it was also more than that.

The Virgin loved to throw herself into the knowledgeless; she cultivated the love of the sacred mystery. She used to walk up the hills, and, while walking, she cultivated within herself another way of looking at the world. She did that voluntarily, as an awakening exercise. For her, the eye and all the organs of perception were a subject of study and amazement.

When she would think about her eyes and the ability to see, she would be amazed. She would say to herself, “How is it possible to see images outside oneself, to move around, and go and touch them?” She would truly be in a deep questioning, and would stay in it for a very long time. She did not content herself with ready-made, superficial answers which answer nothing, which extinguish the fire of questions within the soul. On the contrary, she wanted to cultivate that fire within her in order to unite with the mystery, to be the answer. She wanted to live intensely with the Divine, whom she sensed behind all the manifestations in the world.

She knew how to draw out the forces hidden in the Earth. She had understood the power of water that makes it possible to examine one’s thoughts, to observe one’s feelings, to be attentive to everything that lives and acts inside oneself and around oneself as influences. The power of water gave her the capacity to filter everything that entered her; in this way, she protected herself from impregnations by the dark forces. She truly lived within the purity of the Divine water. She had the capacity to perceive the immensity, and she gave this advice, “Keep your feet on the ground, your head in the cosmos, and your body in purity and silence; then, you will see everything in a completely different way. Have your head in the immensity, in the knowledgeless, and your heart in greatness, and you will discover the blue sky, the soul and all of the stars.” It is for this reason that, in churches, she is often represented with her feet on the ground, wearing a cloak scattered with stars, with a serpent at her feet.

Why a serpent at her feet? It is a symbol of the third step of initiation for the Essenes. Imagine a man walking in the street; his face is gloomy, his internal life is completely obscured, extinguished, without any flame. All his thoughts, all his feelings, all his desires are unconscious. He does not even know the origin of his thoughts, of his convictions, and does not worry about their finality. His thought is so automatic, mechanical, that it is worrying, that it can even be frightening. Doing no work on himself, one can make him adhere to anything. He is, in fact, impregnated by the serpent of passiveness and of death, which brings its children into the world through his intermediary. It is this same serpent that put itself at the service of the Virgin through the quality of the awakening of her soul. It is at her feet; it is she who impregnates it since she has not left her earth unattended; instead, she worked on her inner life, she carried within herself the seed of God, and she took care of it. Her concentration on the Light and the purity of her inner life were such that she had become transparent for the impregnation of the Most-High. Through her words, her aura, her gestures, she commanded the external light, and put it into motion. Thus, the serpent of the Earth, which dispossesses beings of their light, no longer had any power over her, and, moreover, it was obliged to obey her.

The inner life of the Virgin was in a naturally permanent state of awakening. This is very far from the silly, simple, naive, and slightly stupid woman that religion has, unfortunately, portraited her. That is a false image, intended to debase God the Mother, and to pervert the path of the initiation of the soul.”

As more and more is becoming aligned to the higher frequencies we are now being embraced within, much movement is occurring which is creating a barrage of varied manifestations on the planet, within and without.

At the end of March, just after the equinox, openings arrived and we were able to move forward with much opening up and many miracles abounding. We had most certainly touched a higher place, reached a new shore of a new reality, come to the end of the birth canal, and it felt much like heaven indeed. Then, almost as abruptly as it all began, things suddenly went into a chaotic state, as energies were attempting to re-align themselves with their higher purpose, or best fit for how they were now vibrating.

This is a very common pattern of the ascension process. We reach a higher state of being, or dimension, it feels awesome in the beginning, and then everything must align itself to this new residency in the higher realms. Thus, all is always in divine and perfect order, even though most of the time many of us may feel that we are in constant transition, a continual state of purging and releasing, and may wonder if we will ever arrive in the heaven on Earth we have always known would arrive one day.

But the ascension process has several steps which are repeated again and again, and once we become familiar with them, no one would probably ever need to read these energy alerts, as it would be evident what was occurring!

With the advent of the cross-quarter, the mid-way point between the equinox and solstice on May 5, we once again reached a pivotal point, experienced a shift, and moved forward one more notch.

This created more room to expand, to move ahead, to open up, and to reach even further into our new land of heaven on Earth. We had reached a place as a critical mass where we could again move ahead, and the cross-quarter served as the vehicle to assist with this next step ahead.

May 5th marked a point where more alignments were finally manifesting, and much was embraced and taken along with this wave. The presidential election process here in the US has been manifesting itself in accordance with these re-alignments. This is why Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama have been neck and neck for so long. A manifestation was not yet ready to occur, as the new alignments were not yet intact. The old was still in the process of leaving and the new was arriving. And then with the advent of the cross-quarter…..boom! The shift occurred and things began to take their places.

On May 11th, more new alignments occurred as well. The 11th is many times indicative of an opportunity to move through an opening to a higher vibrating reality. The portal of an 11 is usually an exciting event indeed, depending upon where we currently are and what has been transpiring.

If you were one who went through this latest portal, you may have experienced vertigo, spinning, or an extreme loss of balance. This is a common occurrence of ascension as well. When we connect more fully with our Merkabah, or light body, we then utilize it to catapult us into the higher realms.

Merkabah is defined as: “The divine light vehicle allegedly used by ascended masters to connect with and reach those in tune with the higher realms. “Mer” means Light. “Ka” means Spirit. “Ba” means Body. Mer-Ka-Ba means the spirit/body surrounded by counter-rotating fields of light, (wheels within wheels), spirals of energy as in DNA, which transports spirit/body from one dimension to another.”

Thus, it is common to experience spinning, vertigo, and a loss of balance when we are arriving more fully in the higher realms. The first time I had this experience, I began to panic, as I experienced panic attacks when I first began the intense part of the ascension process back in 1987. Feeling as if I was walking a foot or two above the earth, almost floating, used to freak me out as well. But as we become used to these experiences, and know what they are about, it can actually become a fun ride. Late on Saturday evening and into Sunday, when I was barely able to walk a straight line, I could only say “Wheeee! Here we go again!” Now many of these experiences are great fun as I know they are only indicative of a great move forward and I am truly grateful for them.

Natural disasters are becoming an epidemic now. Floods, typhoons, earthquakes, droughts, tornadoes, and fires are arriving in epidemic proportions. The earth must now align with the higher realms, and this is creating much movement within and without. Areas which need the biggest adjustments are experiencing great movement in an attempt to align themselves with a higher vibrating energy.

During the past several weeks, some of you may have had an experience of great weeping, feeling like you could cry a river, and perhaps wondering why tears seemed to want to appear like a tidal wave or tsunami within you. For no apparent reason, it just seemed like a good cry could not be stopped.

This phenomenon generally occurs when there is great loss at hand. It generally occurs when a massive planetary purging is due to arrive. At our highest levels, we feel the imminent loss and a great sadness accompanies it. Then, sure enough, a substantial natural disaster arrives and we know the reason for our earlier experience of great weeping.

For the first few months of 2008, many of us became disillusioned and impatient for our new beginnings and the new world to arrive. During this time, we may have felt stuck with no forward movement and not much going on. I reported many times that we were “waiting” for as many to get on board as possible. Even though some did not want to wait, this was a very necessary part of the process. Yes, it can be hard to wait at times, especially when we ourselves are very ready.

At our highest soul levels, we wanted to give as much time as possible for everyone and everything to make the necessary changes and adjustments needed, and to more importantly make the choice whether to be on board or not. This was a long process but very necessary, as at our highest levels, we dearly love all our brothers and sisters on the planet and wanted them to be with us and most certainly with all those entering the higher realms.

And now the time is here. The natural disasters have arrived as a manifestation of the earth aligning with the higher frequencies, the energies have built, the pressure is releasing the old, and a by-product of this greatly moving energy is the creation of a vehicle for those who chose to depart to do just that.

There is no judgment here. A sufficient amount of time was intentionally given so that as many as possible could be prepared and could make their choices. There will be other stops at the train station. There will be other opportunities. For those who still are not willing to awaken just yet, they will experience a bigger “thumping” or nudging, and they can then choose again. If the leap can be made, those will stay. Those who feel the leap is too far and not a possibility will now depart. These choices were made at the highest levels of each soul. And some will chose to depart for other reasons as well. They may very simply be done here.

This phenomenon of choice and differing times of moving forward into the higher realms has created many partings. But it has also created new and much better fitting alignments as well. This is why Phil and I had to part, and why someone new is soon to arrive for me. When we are willing to let go of what is no longer in alignment or what no longer fits us, and if we can know and trust that a new beginning will arrive very soon, this in turn allows us to arrive in the higher realms. And Phil will experience what he is in alignment with as well, all in a beautiful and perfect way.

Letting go, trusting, dis-connecting from what does not feel right anymore, and re-aligning with our higher selves or souls will support us in phenomenal ways in arriving in our heaven on earth.

These losses, especially relating to the natural disasters, can be overwhelming at times. We may feel shaky and afraid. We may feel traumatized ourselves if we are highly sensitive. It may seem as though we never know what will happen next. But this is the beauty of choice. And there is more to this particular story as well.

Several weeks ago we experienced a new alignment which related to letting go of over-helping others. It involved taking a very important stance of not going down into a lower vibrating reality where others were residing in order to help them. It involved not being where others were and identifying with them. It involved not pulling others up to where we were without their willingness and true desire to let go and be there. It involved allowing others to make their own choices while allowing ourselves to move ahead into what we were now in alignment with.

It also involved not having great compassion for others, as this emotion takes us to where others are as we identify with them too much in order to be there with them and understand where they are. According to the dictionary, compassion involves pity and a willingness to commiserate with another. These states of being bring our energy down. Compassion is a word which existed in the old 3D reality. It was born there. It came from an old 3D mind.

In the higher realms we utilize love instead. When we do visit the lower vibrating reality of suffering in order to assist and serve, we go with the vibration of love….not with compassion. Love serves as our protection from lower vibrating realities. It vibrates extremely high and gives its recipients the best possible outcome. Compassion does not exist in the higher realms as there is no suffering. So then, we utilize love, as that is what we come to know about and to be in the higher realms. And as we begin to evolve into the human angels we will eventually be, we will vibrate love more and more. We need not intentionally send love to another, as this is much to deliberate and contrived. We will naturally be love in itself, as the ascension process produces this state all on its own.

So then, this stage we experienced involving leaving those behind who pulled us into their reality of suffering was intended to prepare us for what is ahead. This stage of evolutionary progress we experienced a few weeks ago was intended to prepare us for these natural disasters which are now occurring so that we could assist if we chose to, without experiencing the pain of others. We would then be wired to assist and truly make a difference without being affected ourselves, but for brief periods of time as we would then need to return to the higher realms of which we came. And leaving others behind broke a cord that was binding us to the old world, thus enabling us to arrive in the higher realms.

And here in these higher realms, we are re-connecting more and more to the reality of our dreams. As the alignments arrive for us more frequently now, we will then experience more and more of our heaven on Earth. As the frequencies of this new world vibrate higher and higher, we naturally experience on the outside more rapidly now, precisely what we are about or vibrating on the inside. The mirror effect is extremely pronounced. Each and every manifestation occurs because of who we are and what we believe and perceive.

We have been so very anxious to have the energies rev up and to reside in the higher realms, but if we had arrived here any sooner, we would have experienced extremely uncomfortable manifestations for ourselves, as our outside reality would have been indicative of what was inside of us. The uncomfortable purging and releasing we have gone through for the past several years was so very necessary to prepare us for these times. Otherwise, we would have experienced more of a hell on Earth than a heaven on Earth.

The more we choose to let go of, the more we will experience a higher realms reality. And the more we allow ourselves to be in alignment with our souls or true and authentic selves, while letting go of what no longer feels good to us, the more we will experience heaven on Earth and the easier it will be to arrive in the higher realms as well.

As we let go of old patterns, mis-perceptions and beliefs, situations and perhaps even others in our lives, we will surely find ourselves in heaven on Earth. And the mirror effect will allow us to make continual changes as we evolve into the angels on Earth that we intended to be.

Wishing you heaven in your heart, starlight in your soul, and miracles in your life in these miraculous times…

The word “Kundalini” comes from Sanskrit and means “coiled.” Kundalini is a universal energy that lies coiled (like a snake) at the base of the spine.

In Eastern tradition there are methods to forcefully raise the Kundalini, however, one should refrain from such practices at all cost as following such techniques could create massive damage in the nervous system to the point of going insane!

The Integrated Ascended Master realizes that the Kundalini rises naturally as a byproduct of developing one’s consciousness and love
. It is a byproduct of meditation, self-introspection, self-inquiry, prayer, and integrated ascension. #Empower yourself

The financial saga in Europe is far from finished , and its repercussions shall travel far and wide. We hold no particular desire as to the outcome, but we see the opportunity arising to put forward the final plan that shall release you from the old paradigm. It will manifest one way or another, as there is no going back to the old ways of managing your affairs. As if by magic the coming of the year 2012 will release more energies that shall lift you up more rapidly than any previous period. Even those amongst you that have given little thought to its significance, will sense that dynamic changes are taking place. Rumors will fly around, with both acceptance and denial causing some dissension, but eventually the truth will come to the fore. It cannot be suppressed indefinitely and will always remain regardless of attempts made to conceal it. The problem is that you have lived in your illusion for so long, that it is difficult to see the truth that must replace it.

It is imperative that you enter the coming period with few fixed ideas, but allow for changes that will clearly point out the direction that your civilization is going in. It is of course Ascension but its path will meander somewhat before it is clearly laid out before you. Allow it to unfold in its own good time, and we will be on hand to direct you in the right direction. Most of the Lightworkers have a good idea of what will happen, but not necessarily the finer details. We of the Galactic Federation are as you might say, on the edge of our seats as the pressure to go ahead is almost unbearable. However, we will say time and time again – that there is a right time for what we are here to do and all will proceed far better as a result. In one sense there is no urgency, given that regardless of what happens, you will reach Ascension as intended. On the other hand, we know that the sooner we can start, the quicker we will have your support.

So we ask you Dear Ones, to please concentrate on where you are going and let anything of the lower vibrations pass you by. You have been entering the higher vibrations for quite some time now, and they support you in your quest to rise up. Each souls journey can be somewhat different to another’s, but in principle you are all looking for a way forward that takes you out of your present predicament. Short of being too fearful to face change, there is no reason why you should not welcome upliftment out of your present experiences. We detect the tiredness and lack of motivation that holds some of you back, but the answers are coming very soon and will give you a lift out of the gloom. Have faith in what has been planned for your civilization to end this cycle of duality on a high note. You are going through the final days now, and if you change track to one that is full of promise for the future, you will be actively involved in the changes that will delight you, and bring peace into your life.

It is time to share your knowledge, as many questions will arise once the truth of our presence is announced. We can of course speak for ourselves, but at the grass roots level your assistance will help clear the way for the greater truths to be told. Bear in mind that not everyone has access to the Internet, and many are quite oblivious to what is coming. Your elderly people are mostly affected and also come from generations that usually have a totally different mindset, and need your help. Be gentle with them and give only as much as you feel they can comprehend, and make sure they realize that all will be well.

Let us emphasize that everything is going to plan, and the best is yet to come. At different stages leading up to this time your leaders have been given an outline of our role in the world changes. So the announcement of our presence will not be such a surprise as you might imagine. They will have had time to accept that our part in your lead up to Ascension is not negotiable, as we answer to much higher powers than those on Earth. In any event without us the end times would have been quite different. We are your assurance that nothing can alter the divine plan that we are carrying out at the Creator’s request. This is why we constantly implore you to keep your eyes on what you have been led to expect. The sequence of events is more or less established, but we have our own desires where they are concerned. Changes are easily accommodated, as we have each aspect clearly defined and planned in great detail.

Even as we prepare for our mission to start the various projects in earnest, we note the deterioration of the worlds population as hunger grows unabated. Can your leaders really accept it is right that the problem can go unattended for so long, as the numbers grow to unmanageable proportions. We realize that without intervention, the deaths from malnutrition will reach record levels. That is not to mention the consequent sickness which also goes largely untreated. Dear Ones, the problems are already beyond your capacity or willingness to solve them, which the dark Ones ignore because of their desire to reduce the population of Earth. We are ready to deal with them, and we have ways of providing nutrition that will quickly overcome the hunger.

We want you to see what can be done with the natural resources of your world, of which there are sufficient to feed the whole population if handled in the correct way. Naturally we will introduce advanced technologies to make the best of what you have. These will be passed onto you, but the need for them will be short lived as once you ascend an even newer concept for food production will be introduced. On board our ships it already exists, and our Mother Ships are self contained farms if you wish to use that description. Naturally because of the higher vibrations of our bodies, our needs for solid food is very limited but we can enjoy the fruits similar to yours. In fact, we also cater for the needs of different Beings to ourselves who serve with us. The ultimate provision is from a Replicator that will provide anything that you may desire, which is useful for Earth Humans on the occasions that they stay with us for a while.

I am SaLuSa from Sirius, and look forward to this time of the year, when many of you have kind thoughts for those less well off than your selves. If shows the deep love within that stirs at such times, and shows you true selves.

Djwhal Kuhl is Chohan of the Emerald Ray and Teacher of the Profound Truth of All Things.  He is also known as “The Tibetan Master”; “DK” and “The Seekers Master”. His work spans many Rays, but the Emerald Ray concerns the assimilation and integration of knowledge and insight through reaching, understanding and expressing the Universal (God’s) Mind. Amongst other things DK describes himself as “Keeper of the Records” and “The Illuminator of the Lotus and the Universal Mind”. He has had many embodiments and influences within Eastern traditions, including those of Confucius, Lao Tsu and Aryasanga, founder of a school of Buddhist philosophy; he was also a pupil of Pythagoras and a disciple of Gautama Buddha and often embodied to study in the lamaseries of Asia. Prior to the loss of Lemuria he helped Lord Himalaya remove ancient records and tablets to the Himalayan retreats of the Masters, where they are now retained in a great Library. He has often embodied with Masters El Morya Khan and Kuthumi in various roles, joining with them in their work within the Great White Brotherhood, which included founding the Theosophical Society in the 1900s. Together they embodied the three wise men that carried gifts to the infant Jesus: Kuthumi was Balthazar (frankincense); El Morya was Melchior (myrrh) and DK was Casper (gold). His final embodiment was as Gai Ben-Jamin an artist and writer, who ultimately became a Tibetan Buddhist leader, taking the name Djwhal Kuhl. His twin flame is the Lady Master Leto who he refers to as “Theresa of the Virtues”. She was embodied as Theresa D’Avila, founder of an ascetic order of Carmelite nuns and is also connected with the Greek Goddess Leto, mother of Apollo and Artemis, revered for her feminine modesty and defence of the young. They have an etheric retreat over NW Tibet near Mount Kailash, which is the focus of one of the Gold Flames of Illumination, and also direct the “Library of Truths” within the region of the Caspian Sea.
Themes of “Enlightenment through the Power of Divine Love and Truth” are keynotes of their work and DK has accepted responsibility for developing and maintaining the pink flames of the Lotus of the Heart: those of Divine Love and Compassion, central to our Earthly lifetimes. His teaching and mastery of the Emerald Ray through the Lotuses of the Heart and Soul then refocuses souls towards the Higher Dimensions once they have recognised and integrated the prime reasons for physical embodiment. As “the teacher’s teacher” he is closely involved in all aspects of education and teaching, believing that we can find God and our own Divinity through any topic. His own work is a blend of the teachings of the Christ and the Buddha, combining Love and Wisdom at all times, and he is especially close during the Wesak festival, which occurs during the 5 days around the first full moon in Taurus. During this time the Christ and the Buddha infuse the Earth with their energies allowing the veil between humanity and the higher spiritual world to be thinned, revealing them in their pure truth. DK teaches on the inner and outer planes on a vast range of topics, including the human energy system; the 3-fold heart flames; the integration of the etheric bodies; the secrets of the Lotuses; and the paths of initiation through the 12 solar hierarchies and their hierarchs and Flames. His focus is on guiding us to recognise God in all things and thus achieve our freedom from duality. In order to do this he helps us identify blocks in our way and discover how to deal with them by guiding us to realize that we are responsible for all we do and all that happens to us and empowering us to react wisely to those events. His lessons on the True nature of Free Will then help us recognise our own power and strengths and assume responsibility for all our actions, thus becoming true masters of our destiny and architects of our own lives. In this way we are prepared for Higher Dimensional existences as dependable Co-Creators of reality.

Djwhal Kuhl has this message for you:
Let me place an emerald within your heart. See its brilliance shine out to the world and fill your very soul, and your inner being with its Light. The emerald brings with it the knowledge of the True nature of Free Will and the potentiality of balance and wholeness. Its Light contains All – everything that is; all that you are, have been and can be. Become aware of your own Infinite Power and Divinity, for you are truly a part of the Cosmic Hierarchy yourself and as much a Co-Creator with God as any other Being in existence. You can choose to create loss, pain, negativity and despair; or you can choose to create hope, health, success and happiness, for You are the architect of your life, and none other. God has placed this great gift within your hands, and thus your life is in your hands and how you choose to live and move forwards is up to you. The lessons you meet and the obstacles in your way are all devised and put there by yourself in order to learn that which you have decided you need to learn or experience in this lifetime. So see those lessons: learn them, know them and then truly understand them, for you need do no more than this. I am here to help you with your learning and self-realisation, and to help you see what needs to be done when the way forward is unclear. You may call on me or visit me in my Ashram, whichever you prefer. I am always there for you.

The Essene Tradition goes back to Enoch, its Founding Father. It is born from the Covenant of this uncommon being, and then of an entire people, with the Divine world, several tens of thousands of years ago, when humanity had fallen from the original world.

This Tradition lived on in an uninterrupted manner, passing from one Master to another, bringing the Light of wisdom to all the peoples, over the centuries.

The Essene Tradition is also called the Primordial Tradition as it is it that created all great civilizations and spiritual movements that gave the world all that is beautiful, true and sacred. It is through its uninterrupted Covenant with the Divine world that it could radiate the Light among all traditions of the peoples, bringing the essential knowledge to a lost humankind.

The aim of Essene masters:

Essene masters always observe the Universe imbued with the love of God.

They accept their task on Earth and live it with total enthusiasm.

They don’t escape from the world; instead, they stand with their two feet on the ground.

They know what is important and what is not, because they are aware of their own nature.

They aren’t above things, but in the middle of things, so they are able to recognize and experience the inherence of things.

They know the three works of Creation: our thoughts, our words and our actions.

They are aware of the difference between Good and Evil, and that Good and Evil exists only in our values.

They know that the most important thing in the Universe is harmony, the balance of Good and Evil.

They realize that Light can’t exist without Darkness; both have polarity, which is necessary for balance.

They live in unity with all living things.

Their humility for the divine fire that burns in all humans and animals precludes the possibility of hurting innocent creatures for no reason.

They destroy life only to support or save life.

They respect all life forms as a temple of God.

The mother, helper and healer of their body, spirit and soul is the Earth and Nature.

They live their life consciously, being aware of why they have come to Earth.

They realize the principles of teachings and that all creatures are guided by the laws of equality.

They are aware that all negativity and sickness derives from disharmony.

They have learned to recognize and tune in to the different frequencies of the material plane.

Their thinking is not limited to only this life.

They can see the flow of the World in Time as a continuous present – past, present and future uniting in divine Harmony.

They are connected to everything, so they are never lonely.

They can distinguish eternal from ephemeral.

Their calm soul lies on the lap of God and they know that the angels of God guide them.

For them, death is returning to God, to the primordial existence; for them death is rebirth.

Their whole nature radiates the love of God that dwells in them, all the time united with patience, understanding and the peace of knowledge.

THE ESSENES—JOHN THE BAPTIST—THE TEMPTATION

What he wished to know he could learn from none other than the Essenes.

The Gospels have maintained perfect silence as to the deeds of Jesus, previous to his meeting with John the Baptist, through whom, according to them, he in some way took possession of his ministry. Immediately afterwards he makes his appearance in Galilee with a clearly defined doctrine, the assurance of a prophet, and the consciousness of the Messiah. But evidently this bold and premeditated début was preceded by the long development of a veritable initiation. No less certain is it that this initiation must have taken place in the sole association in Israel, which, at that time, preserved the real traditions of the prophets and adopted their mode of living. There can be no doubt of this among those who, rising above the superstition of literal interpretation, have the courage to discover how things are linked together by their spirit. This arises not merely from the intimate relations seen to exist between the doctrine of Jesus and that of the Essenes, but even from the very silence kept by the Christ and his disciples concerning this sect. Why does he who attacks with unparalleled courage all the religious sects of his day, never mention the Essenes? And why do neither the apostles nor evangelists speak of them? Evidently because they considered the Essenes as belonging to themselves, as being linked with them by the oath of the mysteries, and linked to the sect of the Christians.

The Order of the Essenes constituted in the time of Jesus the final remnant of those brotherhoods of prophets organized by Samuel. The despotism of the rulers of Palestine, the jealousy of an ambitious and servile priesthood, had forced them to take refuge in silence and solitude. They no longer struggled as did their predecessors, but contented themselves with preserving their traditions. They had two principal centers, one in Egypt, on the banks of Lake Maoris, the other in Palestine, at Engaddi, near the Dead Sea. The name of Essenes they had adopted came from the Syrian word “Asaya,” physician—in Greek, therapeutes; for their only acknowledged ministry with regard to the public was that of healing disease, both physical and moral. “They studied with great diligence,” says Josephus, “certain medical writings dealing with the occult virtues of plants and minerals.”

Some of them possessed the gift of prophecy, as, e. g., Menahim, who had prophesied to Herod that he should reign. “They serve God,” said Philo, “with great piety, not by offering victims but by sanctifying the spirit; avoiding towns, they devote themselves to the arts of peace; not a single slave is to be found among them; they are all free and work for one another.” The rules of the Order were strict; in order to enter, a year’s novitiate was necessary. If one had given sufficient proofs of temperance, he was admitted to the ablutions, though without entering into relations with the masters of the Order. Tests, extending over another two years, were necessary before being received into the brotherhood. They swore “by terrible oaths” to observe the rules of the Order and to betray none of its secrets. Then only did they participate in the common repasts, which were celebrated with great solemnity and constituted the inner worship of the Essenes. The garment they had worn during these repasts they looked upon as sacred and to be removed before resuming work. These fraternal love-feasts, primitive form of the Supper instituted by Jesus, began and ended by prayer. The first interpretation of the sacred books of Moses and the prophets was here given. But the explanation of the texts allowed of three significations, just as there were three degrees of initiation. Very few attained to the highest degree. All this wonderfully resembles the organization of the Pythagoreans, but certainly it was almost the same among the ancient prophets, for it is to he found wherever initiation has existed. It must be added that the Essenes professed the essential dogma of the Orphic and Pythagorean doctrine; that of the preexistence of the soul, the consequence and reason of its immortality. “The soul,” they said, “descending from the most subtle ether, and attracted into the body by a certain natural charm (ἰυγγί τινι φυσικῇ), remains there as in a prison; freed from the bonds of the body, as from a long servitude, it joyfully takes its flight” (Josephus, A. J., ii. 8).

Among the Essenes, the brothers, properly so called, lived under a community of property, and in a condition of celibacy, cultivating the ground, and, at times, educating the children of strangers: The married Essenes formed a class affiliated and under subjection to the other. Silent, gentle, and grave, they were to be met with here and there, cultivating the arts of peace. Carpenters, weavers, vine-planters, or gardeners, never gunsmiths or merchants. Scattered in small groups about the whole of Palestine, and in Egypt, even as far as Mount Horeb, they offered one another the most complete hospitality. Thus we see Jesus and his disciples journeying from town to town, and from province to province, and always certain of finding shelter and lodging. “The Essenes,” said Josephus, “were of an exemplary morality, they forced themselves to suppress passion and anger; always benevolent, peaceable, and trustworthy. Their word was more powerful than an oath, which, in ordinary life, they looked upon as superfluous, and almost as perjury. They endured the most cruel of tortures, with admirable steadfastness of soul and smiling countenance rather than violate the slightest religious precept.” Indifferent to the outward pomp of worship at Jerusalem, repelled by the harshness of the Sadducees, and the prayers of the Pharisees, as well as by the pedantry of the synagogue, Jesus was attracted towards the Essenes by natural affinity.

The premature death of Joseph set entirely free Mary’s son, now grown into a man. His brothers could continue the father’s trade and supply all family needs, so Mary gave him permission to leave secretly for Engaddi. Welcomed as a brother and one of the elect, he rapidly acquired over his very masters an invincible ascendancy, by reason of his superior faculties, his ardent love, and an indescribable divine element manifested throughout his entire being. From the Essenes he received what they alone could give him: the esoteric tradition of the prophets, and by its means, his own historical and religious tendency or trend. He came to understand how wide a gulf separated the official Jewish doctrine from the ancient wisdom of the initiates, the veritable mother of religions, though ever persecuted by Satan, i. e., by the spirit of evil, of egoism, hatred, and denial, allied with absolute political power and priestly imposture. He learned that Genesis, under the seal of its symbolism, concealed a theogony and cosmogony as far removed from their literal signification as is the profoundest truth of science from a child’s fable. He contemplated the days of Aelohim, or the eternal creation by emanation of the elements and the formation of the worlds, the origin of the floating souls, and their return to God by progressive existences or generations of Adam. He was struck with the grandeur of the thought of Moses, whose intention had been to prepare the religious unity of the nations by establishing the worship of the one God, and incarnating this idea into a people.

Afterwards he was instructed in the doctrine of the divine Word, already taught by Krishna in India, by the priests of Osiris, by Orpheus and Pythagoras in Greece, and known to the prophets under the name of the Mysteries of the Son of Man and of the Son of God. According to this doctrine, the highest manifestation of God is man, who, in constitution, form, organs, and intelligence is the image of the Universal Being, whose faculties he possesses. In the earthly evolution of humanity, however, God is scattered, split up, and mutilated, so to speak, in the multiplicity of men and of human imperfections. In it he suffers, struggles, and tries to find himself, he is the Son of Man, the perfect Man, the Man-Type, the profoundest thought of God, remaining hidden in the infinite abyss of his desire and power. And yet at certain epochs, when humanity is to be saved from some terrible gulf, and set on a higher stand, a chosen one identifies himself with divinity, attracts it to himself by strength, wisdom, and love, and manifests it anew to men. Then, divinity, by virtue and breath of the Spirit, is completely present in him: the Son of Man becomes the Son of God, and his living word. In other ages and among other nations, there had already appeared sons of God, but since Moses, none had arisen in Israel. All the prophets were expecting this Messiah. The Seers even said that this time he would call himself the Son of Woman, of the Heavenly Isis, of the divine light which is the Bride of God, for the light of Love would shine in him, above every other light, with a dazzling splendor, hitherto unknown on earth.

All these secrets which the patriarch of the Essenes unfolded to the young Galilean on the solitary banks of the Dead Sea, in lonely Engaddi, seemed to him wonderful, but yet known. It was with no ordinary emotion that he heard the chief of the Order comment on the words still to be read in the Book of Henoch: “From the beginning the Son of Man was in the mystery. The Father kept him near his mighty presence, and manifested him to his elect.… But the Kings shall be afraid and shall prostrate themselves to the ground with terror, when they shall see the Son of Woman seated on the throne of his glory.… Then the elect shall summon all the forces of heaven, all the saints from on high and the power of God; and the Cherubim, the Seraphim, the Ophanim, all the angels of Might, all the angels of the Lord, i. e. of the Elect and of the other Might, serving on earth and above the waters, shall raise their voices.”

At these revelations the words of the prophets, read and meditated upon times innumerable, appeared before the eyes of the Nazarene, with a profound and terrible light, like lightning flashes in the night. Who could this Elect be, and when would he appear before Israel?

Jesus passed a series of years among the Essenes. He submitted to their discipline, studied with them the secrets of nature, and the occult power of healing. To develop his spirit, he gained entire mastery over his body. Not a day passed without self-questioning and meditation on the destiny of humanity. That was a memorable night for the Order of Essenes and the new adept, when he received in profoundest secrecy the superior initiation of the fourth degree, the one granted only in the special case of a prophetic mission, requested by the brother, and confirmed by the Elders. A meeting was held in a cave cut into the mountain, and resembling a vast hall with an altar of stone seats. The chief of the Order was there with a few Elders. Sometimes two or three initiates, prophetesses also, Essenes, were admitted to the mysterious ceremony. Bearing torches and branches of palm trees, they greeted the new Initiate who was clothed in a robe of white linen, as “Bridegroom and King,” the one they had seen in vision, and whom they now looked upon perhaps for the last time! Then, the chief of the Order, generally an old centenarian (Josephus states that the Essenes lived to an advanced age) offered him the golden chalice as a symbol of the final initiation, containing the wine of the Lord’s vineyard, symbol of divine inspiration. Some said that Moses and the seventy had drunk therefrom; others trace it back from Abraham, who received from Melchisedek this very initiation under the elements of bread and wine. The Eiders never offered the cup to anyone in whom they had not recognized, with distinct certainty, the signs of a prophetic mission. But no one could define this mission, he was to find it himself; such is the law of the initiates—nothing from without, everything from within. Henceforth he was free, master of his own actions, liberated from the Order, a very hierophant, obedient to the impulses of the spirit which could fling him into the depths or transport him on high, far above scenes of torture and human passion.

When after the songs and prayers and sacramental words of the Elder the Nazarene took the cup, a pale ray of the sun shooting through a rugged mountain crag ran in and about the torches and the flowing white garments of the Essene prophetesses. They too shuddered as they saw it fall on the Galilean’s beautiful countenance, now overshadowed with a look of infinite sorrow. Were his thoughts dwelling on the poor wretches of Siloam; had he already, in that ever-present anguish, caught a glimpse of the path he was to traverse?

About this time, John the Baptist was preaching on the banks of the Jordan. He was not an Essene but a prophet of the people, belonging to the sturdy race of Judah. Driven into the wilderness by a fierce unyielding piety, he had there, in prayer, fasting, and mortification, lived a life of the strictest asceticism. Over his bare sun-tanned skin he wore a camel’s-hair cloak, symbol of the penitence he wished to impose both on himself and on his people. Deeply did he feel Israel’s distress, and ardently did he await deliverance. According to the Jewish idea, he imagined the Messiah would soon come as an Avenger and a Judge; that, like another Maccabæus, he would rouse the people to revolt, drive out the Romans, punish the guilty, and finally enter Jerusalem in triumph, where, in peace and justice, he would re-establish the kingdom of Israel over all nations. He announced to the multitudes, who eagerly drank in his words, that the time was nigh for the coming of this Messiah, adding that they might prepare for it in a spirit of true repentance. Adopting the Essenian custom of ablution and transforming it, he had looked upon baptism in the Jordan as a visible symbol, a public accomplishment of the inner purification he insisted upon. This new ceremony, this earnest preaching to immense crowds of people, with the wilderness as a background, and beside the sacred waters of the Jordan, near the rugged mountains of Peraea and Judaea, seized hold of the imagination, and attracted multitudes. It recalled the glorious days of the prophets of old, and gave the people what the temple could not give them, an inner shock, and, after the terrors of repentance had passed, a vague though mighty hope. They came from every part of Palestine, and even from more distant lands, to hear the desert-saint who foretold the coming of the Messiah. The populace, attracted by his message, remained there in camps, for weeks at a time, listening to him daily, unwilling to depart, awaiting the Messiah’s coming. Many asked to take up arms under his command, and to recommence the holy war. Herod Antipas and the priests of Jerusalem began to be uneasy at this excitement of the populace. The signs of the times, too, were ominous; Tiberius, at the age of seventy-four, was rapidly hastening his death by scenes of debauchery at Capreae; Pontius Pilate was persecuting the Jews with redoubled fury; while, in Egypt, the priests had given forth that the Phœnix was about to spring again to birth from her ashes.

Jesus, who felt the prophetic calling even more emphatic within his soul, though as yet he was still feeling his way, came also to the desert of the Jordan, accompanied by a few Essenes, who already acknowledged him as master. He wished to see the Baptist, to listen to his message, and be baptized in public. His desire was to present himself in an humble and respectful attitude towards the prophet who had the courage to denounce the present rulers, and arouse from slumber the soul of Israel.

He saw the rough ascete, hairy and bearded, with his prophetic lionlike head, standing in a wooden pulpit under a rustic tent covered with branches and goatskins. All around among the scanty desert shrubs was a mighty crowd, an entire camp: publicans, soldiers of Herod, Samaritans, Levites from Jerusalem; Idumeans with their flocks of sheep, even Arabs with their camels, tents and caravans arrested by “the voice crying in the wilderness,” and this voice of thunder passed over these multitudes. It said: “Repent ye; prepare ye the way of the Lord, make His paths straight.” He called the Pharisees and Scribes “a race of vipers.” He added that “the axe was already laid unto the root of the trees,” and said of the Messiah: “I baptize you with water only, but He shall baptize you with fire.” Then, about sunset, he saw the crowds press towards a cove on the water’s bank, and Herod’s mercenaries bend their rough backs beneath the water poured over them by the Baptist. He drew nearer; John did not know Jesus, knew nothing whatever concerning him, but he recognized the Essene by his linen garment. He saw him, a mere unit in the crowd, enter the water up to the girdle, and humbly bend to receive the baptismal sprinkling. When the neophyte arose, the savage preacher’s fiery eyes met the Galilean’s calm, gentle gaze. A quiver ran through the man of the wilderness as he saw the look of wondrous sweetness beaming from the eyes of Jesus, and involuntarily the question escaped his lips: “Art thou the Messiah?”

The mysterious Essene made no reply, but with bowed head and crossed hands, he awaited the blessing. John knew that silence was the law of the Essene novices. After solemnly extending both hands, the Nazarean disappeared with his companions among the water reeds.

The Baptist saw him depart with mingled feelings of doubt, secret joy, and profound sadness. What was his own knowledge, his own prophetic hope compared with the light he had seen in the eyes of the unknown, a light which seemed to illuminate his whole being? Ah! if the handsome young Galilean were the Messiah, then indeed had the brightest day of his life dawned! But his own part would now be over, his own voice silent. From this day forward he preached in deeper and more emotional tones on the melancholy theme: “He must increase and I must decrease.” He was beginning to feel the gloom and weariness of an old lion tired of roaring, and now silently awaiting the end.

Could it be that he were the Messiah? The Baptist’s question also found an echo in the soul of Jesus. Ever since his consciousness had sprung to life, he had found God within himself, and the certainty of the kingdom of Heaven in the radiant beauty of his visions. Then came the suffering of humanity which had filled his heart with the awful outpour of its anguish. The wise Essenes had taught him the secret of religions and of mysteries, they had shown him the spiritual decadence of humanity, and its expectation of a savior. But how could he find the strength needed to rescue it from the pit? And now, the direct call of John the Baptist fell on the silence of his meditations like a thunderbolt from Sinai. Could he be the Messiah?

Jesus could answer this question only by inmost meditation. Hence this retreat, this forty days’ fast, narrated by Matthew in the form of a symbolic legend. The Temptation in reality represents in the life of Jesus this great crisis, this sovereign vision of truth, which all prophets, all religious initiates, must infallibly experience before beginning their work.

Over above Engaddi, where the Essenes cultivated sesame and the vine, a steep footpath led to a cave or grotto opening out on to the mountainside. It was entered by way of Dorian columns cut out of the rough rock, similar to those of the “Apostles” retreat in the valley of Jehosophat. There one remained suspended above the yawning precipice as though from an eagle’s nest. Below, in a gorge, could be seen vineyards and human dwellings away in the distance, the Dead Sea motionless and grey, and the lonely mountains of Moab. The Essenes had appointed this retreat for such among them as wished to submit to the test of solitude. In this spot were several rolls of the prophets, strengthening spices, dry figs, and a small stream of trickling water, sole nourishment of the ascete in meditation. It was to this cave that Jesus retired. First of all, he mentally reviewed the whole of humanity’s past life, and estimated the gravity of the present times. Rome was in sovereign power, and with her what the Persian magi had called the reign of Ahrimanes, and the prophets the reign of Satan, the sign of the Beast, the apotheosis of Evil. Darkness covered humanity, the soul of earth.

The people of Israel had received from Moses the royal and sacerdotal mission of representing the male religion of the Father of the pure Spirit, of teaching it to other nations, and effecting its triumph. Had its kings and prophets fulfilled this mission? The prophets who alone had been conscious of it, replied unanimously: No! Israel was in her last throes, crushed beneath the might of Rome. Ought a rising of the people to be hazarded once more as the Pharisees still expected; a restoration by force of the temporal royalty of Israel? Should he declare himself son of David, and exclaim with Isaiah: “In my wrath I will trample upon the people… and overthrow their might”? Should he be a second Maccabæus, and allow himself to be nominated pontifex-king? Jesus might have made the attempt. He had seen the crowds ready to rise at the voice of John the Baptist, and the strength he was himself conscious of was far greater than that of the prophet of the wilderness! But then, would violence overcome violence? Would the sword put an end to government by the sword? Would there not be thus supplied fresh recruits to the powers of darkness who were watching their prey in secret?

Ought he not rather to place within the reach of all mankind this truth, which hitherto had remained the privilege of a few sanctuaries and initiates, to open every heart to receive it, until the time should be ripe for it to penetrate the mind by inner revelation and science, i. e. to preach the kingdom of Heaven to the poor and lowly, substitute the reign of Grace for that

of the Law, transform humanity from its very base by regeneration of souls?

But to whom would victory belong, to Satan or to God? To the spirit of evil who reigns with the formidable powers of earth, or to the divine spirit who is enthroned above the invisible regions of heaven, and sleeps in the heart of man just as the spark lies hidden in the flint? What would be the fate of the prophet who should dare to tear away the veil from the temple and lay bare the emptiness of the sanctuary, braving at once Herod and Cæsar?

And yet it must be done! The inner voice did not say to him as it did to Isaiah: “Take a large volume and write therein with a man’s pen!” The voice of God tried out to him, “Rise and speak!” The word of life must be found, the faith which removes mountains, the strength which shatters the bulwarks of evil.

Jesus began fervently to pray. Then a feeling of uneasiness, an increasing trouble came over his soul. He had a feeling that he was losing the marvellous felicity he had participated in, and that he was sinking into a very pit of darkness. A black, dense mist came over him, peopled with phantoms of every kind. He recognized his brothers, his Essene masters, his mother. One after the other they said to him: “It is madness for you to wish for what can never be! You know not what is before you! Renounce it all!” The invincible inner voice replied: “I must go on!” Thus he struggled for a series of days and nights, at times standing, then again on his knees or prostrate on the ground. The abyss in which he was sinking became deeper and deeper, and thicker and thicker the enveloping mist. Hefelt as though he were approaching something inexpressibly terrible.

Finally, he entered that state of lucid ecstasy in which the very depth of consciousness awakens, enters into communication with the living Spirit of things, and projects in dreams the images of past and future. His eyes close, and the outer world disappears. The Seer contemplates truth in the light which floods his whole being, and converts his intelligence into a burning furnace.

Then came the clash of thunder, the mountain shook to its foundations. A whirlwind coming from distant space carried off the Seer to the top of the temple at Jerusalem. Down below shone roofs and minarets like a forest of gold and silver. Hymns were ascending from the Holy of Holies, waves of incense arose from every altar and formed in eddying circles beneath his feet. People in festive garb filled the porticos, while women joyfully sang into the air their hymns of ardent devotion. Trumpets sounded, and a mighty chorus of voices exclaimed: “Glory to the Messiah! the King of Israel!” “Thou shalt be this King if thou wilt worship me,” said a voice from below. “Who art thou?” asked Jesus.

Again the wind carried him through space to the summit of a mountain. At his feet lay, in their golden glory, all the kingdoms of the earth.

“I am the king of spirits and the prince of the earth,” answered the voice from below.… “I know who thou art,” said Jesus; “thy forms are innumerable, thy name is Satan. Appear in thy earthly form.” … The figure of a crowned monarch appeared, enthroned in the clouds. Around his imperial head shone a faint,pale halo. The sombre figure stood out against a blood-red nimbus, with its pallid, ghastly countenance, and eyes flashing forth a cold steely light. He said: “I am Cæsar. Only bow down before me, and I will give thee all these kingdoms.” Jesus said to him: “Get thee behind me, tempter! It is written: Thou shalt worship only the Lord thy God.” Immediately the vision faded away.

Finding himself alone in the cave of Engaddi, Jesus said: “By what sign shall I overcome the powers of the earth?” … “By the sign of the Son of Man,” said a voice from above. “Show me this sign,” said Jesus.

Away on the horizon appeared a shining constellation, four stars in the sign of a cross. The Galilean recognized the sign of ancient initiations familiar to Egypt and preserved by the Essenes. When the world was young, the sons of Japhet had worshipped it as the sign of earthly and heavenly fire, the sign of Life with all its joys, of Love with all its wonders. Later the Egyptian initiates had seen in it the symbol of the great mystery, Trinity dominated by Unity, the image of the sacrifice of the ineffable Being who breaks himself in order to manifest himself in the universe. Symbol at once of life, death, and resurrection, it covered innumerable hypogea, temples and tombs.… The brilliant cross grew larger and came nearer, as though attracted by the heart of the Seer. The four living stars shone forth like suns of light and glory. “Behold the magic sign of Life and Immortality!” said the heavenly voice. “In ancient times it was in the possession of men, now it is lost. Wilt thou restore it to them?” … “Iwill,” said Jesus.… “Then look, behold thy destiny!”

Suddenly the four stars disappeared. It was night; loud thunderclaps shook the mountains to their foundations; while from the depths of the Dead Sea emerged a dark, sombre mountain, surmounted with a black cross. On it was nailed a man in the agony of death. The mountain was covered with a demon-stricken mob, crying out in hellish jeers: “If thou art the Messiah, save thyself!” The Seer opened wide his eyes, then fell back, cold drops of perspiration streaming down his face, for this crucified man was himself.… He had understood. In order to overcome, he must identify himself with this terror-stricken image, summoned up by himself, and placed there before him like an evil-boding omen. Wavering in his uncertainty as to the emptiness of infinite space, Jesus felt at once the tortures of the crucified one, the insults of men, and the profound silence of heaven.… “Thou canst take it or reject it,” said the angelic voice. The vision of the cross-phantom and the crucified victim began to grow dim, when of a sudden Jesus saw once more by his side the sick wretches of the pool of Siloam, and behind them myriads of despairing souls murmuring, with clasped hands: “Without thee we are lost; save us, thou who knowest how to love!” Then the Galilean slowly arose, and with outstretched arms, in an attitude of supreme love, exclaimed: “Mine be the cross! Let but the world be saved!” Immediately Jesus felt a mighty rending asunder throughout his frame, and a terrible groan escaped his lips.… At the same time the dark, sombre mountain and the cross faded away, a gentle radiant beam of divine felicity entered the soul of the

Seer, and from the heights of heaven a voice descended, saying, “Satan is no longer master! Death is overthrown! Glory to the Son of Man! Glory to the Son of God!”

When Jesus awoke from this vision nothing around him had changed; the rising sun cast his golden beams on the sides of the cave of Engaddi; soothing dewdrops—veritable tears of angelic love—bathed his bruised feet, and light clouds of mist were rising from the Red Sea. But he was no longer the same. A definite event had taken place in the fathomless depths of his consciousness, he had solved the problem of life and had won peace, the great certainty had entered his soul. From the rejection of his earthly being, which he had trodden under foot and cast into the pit, a new consciousness had arisen in radiant majesty.… He knew he had become the Messiah by an irrevocable act of his will.

Soon after, he once more descended to the village of the Essenes, where he learned that John the Baptist had just been seized by Antipas and imprisoned in the fortress of Makerous. Far from showing fear at this omen, he saw therein a sign that the time was ripe and that he in his turn must act. Accordingly, he gave out to the Essenes that he was about to preach in Galilee, “the Gospel of the kingdom of Heaven.” That meant, to bring the great mysteries within reach of the poor and lowly, to translate for them the doctrine of the initiates. Like boldness had never been seen since the days when Cakia Mouni, the last Buddha, moved by mighty compassion, had preached on the banks of the Ganges. The same sublime compassion for humanity animated Jesus. To it he joined inner illumination, capacityfor loving, a grandeur of faith and energy of action belonging to himself alone. From the abyss of death which he had fathomed, and whose bitterness he had tasted beforehand, he brought both hope and life for all his brethren.

The Kingdom of Peace Is Like a King

The kingdom of peace is like a king who raises an army to go off to war. He wins all of the battles, and the victory is his. He is filled with joy because he has crushed his enemies. But he soon realizes that many of his best friends are dead; and he sees, once again, the faces of those he has killed, with their blood still staining his armor.

He says to himself: “Do they, perhaps, have wives and children weeping for them now?”

His heart becomes filled with sadness; he knows that the real enemy has not been defeated. In truth, I say to you, there is never any victory in external wars. It is always man who loses. It is impossible to separate victory and defeat in this kind of war.

The real enemy is inside oneself; the person who triumphs over it elevates himself above that victory-defeat, to find the light of the kingdom that I am telling you about.

The Balance Between The Spiritual Life And The Material Life

These days, human beings are concerned only with their bodies and with external life. The spirit has disappeared and the consciousness is of no interest to anyone. This orientation produces an imbalance, an unconscious turmoil which is the cause of all wars. Peace is, above all, an equilibrium, a harmony, a fullness, a justice. Man can find this peace only by once again balancing the spirit and matter inside himself — by using the sword of the consciousness.

The sword of the Archangel Michael, which Christ talks about, is the needle on the scale; it is also the virtue which allows one to distinguish what belongs to the spirit from what belongs to matter. Then each thing can be put into its correct place for the good of the whole. One must not neglect the spirit in order to only take care of the material side; but one must not neglect the body either, and take interest only in the spirit. Peace is never extremist; it results from a reasonable union of the two poles of the one-energy.

The Universal Key Of Peace: The Great Method

If you want to approach a deeper understanding of this teaching on peace, you can freely practice the following meditative exercises and methods which emanate from the initiatic current of the Cosmic Tradition and from St. John’s humanity of light.

Develop the good habit of feeling the ground under your feet, of feeling that the earth is carrying you. Even when you lie down in your bed to sleep, you can be aware that the earth is supporting you and that you give your body over to it with confidence.

Develop the good habit of feeling the infinite sky above you. You must acquire this perception of the immensity and the eternity of the highest heights.
Raise your eyes up towards the blue of the sky and consciously tie yourself to the divine spirit, to the Most High, to the Supreme One — with a feeling of elevation, of ennoblement, and of unlimited perfection.

Just as you were able to realize that the earth is carrying you and supporting you, you must also succeed in feeling that the infinite immensity of the sky above you is elevating you, is attracting you upwards, is straightening you up, and is awakening you inside your true eternal being.

The third habit to be acquired consists of feeling yourself to be like a point of liaison between the sky and the earth, allowing the inspirations of the spirit to pass into matter and elevating the energies of matter up towards the spirit.

Whatever he does, an artisan of peace is aware of the earth, of himself and of the spirit, and also of his ability to make the spirit material and to make matter spiritual. For example, when he is eating, he is aware that he is making matter spiritual; and this is why he strives to perform this action with gratitude—inviting in the most elevated thoughts.

When he speaks, he is aware that it is the beauty of the spirit that is being manifested through his words; and he strives, therefore, to build up, and not to destroy. But these examples are poor compared with the profound discoveries waiting for the person who strives to acquire these habits in life. He will see, inside himself, that everything negative can be suppressed, and transformed by the power of the spirit — and that only the awakened man can make it possible for the kingdom of peace to materialize inside the earthly reality, by adopting the new life of the spirit.

The Kingdom of Peace Is Like a Woman

The kingdom of peace is like an ordinary woman who loves life, her husband and her children, but who is always preoccupied by the many questions which create doubts and fears inside her soul.
Doubts and fears about life, her husband and her children — to such an extent that she ends up living in a state of anguish and irritation, with a hardened heart and hurtful words.

On a day when she is feeling very sad, with a circle of questions whirling around in her head, she mechanically approaches a stream out in nature, sits down near it, and listens to its soft music. This music, through some mysterious power, moves her consciousness into her heart, opens it, and begins to talk to her and to give her all the answers.
Filled with joy, she raises her eyes and, for the first time, sees the sparkling sun, the green grass, the majestic trees; everything speaks to her of love and joy, and invites her to fullness.

In truth, I say to you, the person who lives on the surface of life can only find suffering and become a carrier of war. The external man always lives with questions, fear and unhappiness; but the inner man, who lives inside the heart, knows all the answers. Not ready-made answers which generate new questions, but living answers which lead to fullness and peace.
Only truth brings the fullness of life, and freedom.

The source of the truth lives inside your heart; and if you let its waters flow, you will find the purity of your true being and you will know peace. Fear, doubt, anguish and irritation are impurities which prevent the waters of the heart from flowing, and the true love from manifesting itself. Let your heart open up and let the waters of your heart flow; and all of the impurities will flee far away from you.

The external man cannot find the peace that he needs so much if he is cut-off from the inner man, from the heart. The inner man cannot find the fullness that he needs so much if he is cut-off from the source of the true being.
Therefore, each one is dependent upon the other; the angel of peace needs man in order to achieve peace on earth, and man needs the angel of peace in order to bring his life to fullness.

Essene Technique of the Great Gratitude

One of the keys of respect, and therefore of inner happiness and enlightenment, is to learn to be grateful and to say thank you with gratitude and right understanding. You will certainly tell me that sometimes there is really nothing to say thank you for, and that it cultivates a naive, passive, and weak attitude. In truth, gratitude is everything except weakness. It opens the door to a higher knowledge and science. An act which comes from gratitude is always beneficial and beautiful. Not knowing how to say thank you is absolutely not a strength; it is a weakness. One who is a prisoner of discontent is plunged into negative states of mind which steal his force and energy from him.

The phrase “thank you” is not merely a polite convention; it is above all a truly magical phrase, a sacred incantation, a powerful mantra which was transmitted to all peoples by the greatest spiritual teachers and their enlightened students. Yes, many customs of life that we practice unconsciously were originally instituted by beings of light who wanted to help humanity. The phrase “thank you” has the power to open the consciousness and to awaken into true wealth. Those who know to say thank you when they are plunged into trials prove their inner value and connection with the higher consciousness. Such a thank you should come from a clear consciousness and a perfect knowledge of the laws of life. Then, it possesses the alchemical power to transform situations and states of mind.

Correctly pronounced, it has also the virtue of purifying the terrestrial soul and the relationships among beings. To say thank you to someone is to purify the atmosphere between you and this person. It sometimes clears up karmic links and difficult situations. “Thank you” has a liberating power; it makes detachment, letting go, and pardon possible. It can become a true blessing for oneself and others; it can be a bulwark against dark forces which often want to interfere in our lives in order to slyly perturb, complicate, and destroy everything. A solid foundation–on which it becomes possible to build a useful, harmonious, rich, and conscious life–can also be established in the psychological life through gratitude.

The virtues of gratitude are too numerous to describe them all; it is simplest to know them from experience by putting gratitude into practice. Indeed, we need a new perception of the world, much more spiritual and subtle. It is in the invisible world that “thank you” takes on all its dimensions. Of course, if we live without spirituality, without consciousness, if we turn our backs on the invisible world, then I admit that “thank you” can become a weakness: for a brute, to say thank you is to die. But I think we haven’t come to that yet.

For those who are aware of their spirituality, and therefore of the subtle part of their beings and of life, to say thank you is to increase the intensity of life. Discontent narrows life, whereas gratitude dilates, enlarges, increases happiness, and opens the doors of infinity, of love. Those who receive love with gratitude receive it twice, whereas one who is discontent loses it. Gratitude is an art of tasting life with relish; it is also an intelligence of acceptance and work on oneself. The pampered child cannot be joyful, as it believes that everything is due to it. To live a lie is to sentence oneself to misfortunes and disillusion.

I am convinced that happiness depends on our attitude with life. If your “thank you” contains all of heaven, then it can become a fabulous prayer and gift of love. One who pronounces such a “thank you” understands that nothing belongs to him on the earth, and that everything is a gift from higher beings who take care of him. Even his body, his thoughts, his desires do not belong to him. To say thank you for all of these blessings is to enter the path of acquiring them truly, and of making something positive from them. When “thank you” is transformed into prayer, it acquires the power to triumph over all of the dark forces and negative states of mind which poison life.

More and more, the world resembles a jungle infested with insects and strange animals. To find oneself in situations where dark states of mind invade the consciousness and the sensitivity like a cloud of mosquitoes happens more and more frequently. We do not know any more how to escape these destructive states. The great “thank you”–the one which knows the path to the higher invisible world–can deliver us. I repeat myself, for it is important for me: the “thank you” which soars toward the heavens with respect and gratitude is the most beautiful prayer. Now it is the efficient prayer that delivers human beings from the ascendancy of dark forces and negative states of mind. The word “gratitude” also means rebirth to oneself. We must finally understand that we have allowed an artificial way of life which increases the negative to develop. This is why, in the future and even in the present, the techniques of inner alchemy will be more and more indispensable. Without them, it will be impossible to struggle and to keep one’s dignity, one’s treasure of soul, one’s beauty. We must reinvent a new way of living on the earth in order to regain the forces of soul which open the doors of heaven and illumination. This is a necessity for the future.

When human beings carry heaven and earth within themselves, no negative forces can enter them. Understand me well: for me, discontent is a negative force. Of course, there is a beneficial discontent which allows us to get down to work again and to reach perfection, but this discontent is temperate and controlled; it is a tool of creativity. I am not speaking about this one, but about the one which gets into the soul and leads it to servitude, by closing the doors of higher intelligence.
“Thank you” is a word which unites heaven and earth. When the “thank you” is sincere and filled with the force of life, it has the power to touch and awaken the intimate center which is in the stomach and that the Japanese call the “hara”. Real force comes from the deep “thank you” which touches the center of the being and unites heaven and earth. One who knows how to say thank you to the earth finds the foundation of psychological life. The earth cleans, purifies, and heals him of many psychological troubles, and even of physical diseases, for both are basically linked.

One who knows how to say thank you to the intelligence of heaven finds the direction and the goal of his life. It is a light which enlightens with true knowledge. All we need is to get down to work. Many things in our lives depend on the way we direct our energies.
Intelligence absolutely does not rest in swallowing in parrot fashion, but in the ability to understand the positive meaning of one’s life and to walk in this direction for the good of oneself, others, and the world. Everyone on earth should offer their sincere and warm thanks to all beings–not to the little artificial self in them, but to the Nameless One, who is present everywhere. The acknowledgement of the divine, of the sublime, of the infinite, of the immortal, through human beings and through the Whole, is the perfection of the “thank you”.
I am now going to teach you an old Essene technique.

Old Essene Exercise of Purification and Health

Stand in living nature, between the earth and the sky.
Feel the earth under your feet; feel how the earth carries you and holds you up.
Feel the infinite sky above you; it inspires, straightens, and elevates you.
In the sky, think of the origin of your spirit and of your intelligence.
In the sky, think of the origin of your eternal soul, of the higher universal consciousness.
In the earth, think of the origin of your terrestrial soul, of your individual consciousness.
Feel yourself as a living union of the forces of the sky and the earth, of the infinite and the development.
Kneel on the ground, and with your right hand, dig a little hole in the earth.
Put your hands together in front of the center of your chest (mystical heart), in the sign of prayer and inner union with heaven and earth within you.
In this sacred posture, let a beautiful light, a force, a presence of the heaven flow through you: the omnipresence of the Father of all living beings. You can imagine a diamond light, transparent like pure water.
Bend down with love before Mother Earth, and place your hands around the little hole. Bend down completely so that your mouth is laid on your hands.
Offer then by your word the “thank you” of heaven to Mother Earth; offer also the “thank you” of your heart, and, through it, the “thank you” of the heart of humanity.

Pronounce the words:
“Mother Earth, I offer you the “thank you” of my heart and, through it, the “thank you” of the heart of all men and women. May all beings that you carry within your bosom, nurture, protect, and let grow be blessed.”
Stretch yourself out on the ground and abandon yourself totally to the earth. That your body and your soul born from it be one with the Mother-Earth and her hidden splendor.

Think and say:
“Mother Earth, take all of my illnesses and my faults according your will, so that I may receive the blessing of the heavenly Spirit to transmit it to all living beings according his will.”
Remain in silent communion while letting the earth purify you completely.
Rise to your knees again, and put your hands together in front of the rose of the sun of the heart.

Think in your spirit, feel in your soul, and say with your force of life:
“With love and gratitude,
I offer my loving “thank you” filled with light.
To the Mother Earth, thank you;
To the water of life, thank you;
To the precious air, thank you;
To the sacred fire, thank you;
To the stable minerals, thank you;
To the plants, thank you;
To the animals, thank you;
To humanity walking on the path of evolution, thank you;
To all of the angels, thank you;
To the cosmic intelligence which created my thought, thank you;
To the ocean of love which created my sensibility, thank you;
To the universal life which impregnated my future with the seed of individuality, thank you;
To all of the beings of the world, I give my “thank you” within Him, the unique Source who unites all beings within the origin and the goal.”

Fold your arms on your chest, bow slightly your head, and pronounce the word of conclusion: “Amen”.
Then, refill the hole that you had dug to speak to the Mother of the world.

By practicing such exercises, which are totally suitable for our contemporary life, you will notice that you receive a force of balance and harmony which lets you remain more centered and be more yourself in life. The technique of gratitude allows one to develop a finer sensitivity to the higher world. Not an unhealthy sentimentality, but an awakening which makes one become more lucid, more strong, more fair. Our life is our life; it is we who have to live it, and no-one else. But it is obvious that, in order to live it in a beautiful way, we need force and lucidity. The technique of gratitude allows one to gain these and more.
One is generally afraid of sensibility, because one thinks that the more sensible a person is, the more he/she is unhappy and ill. Of course, if the “thank you” is not right, it can make one ill, because the energies are not directed toward the sky of the spirit, but remain unconscious and too personal. The one who thinks he/she is the center of the world while saying thank you only expresses a dead conventional polite phrase in order to hide the true being he/she is, for the sake of appearances.

The true “thank you” opens the perception of beauty, wisdom, greatness, and love. If the human being no longer perceives the reality of this omnipresent higher world, then he is lost. It is only a matter of time; downfall is inevitable. Only a right cultivation of a higher sensibility can lead humanity toward a real evolution of light and harmony, and enable it to overcome all trials and temptations.
A source of well-being and intense beneficial life is to offer oneself moments of solitude when harmony with all of the forces of original good can be cultivated in silence and calm, and when the magical phrase of the great “thank you” can be spoken. One can then share all this with others through simple acts, friendly words, smiles filled with a light and a warmth which come from a world where the human reigns.

Essene Prayer Said by the Mother Mary

I have walked and taught Mother Mary, as I lived as an essene Master in Qumram. This is one of the prayers we used.

Within the Most High, my soul blossoms,
Leaps for joy at the sight of the ascendant path.

What is on high came to meet what is below,
And the Most High has impregnated my soul through his radiant look.

Out of all the generations, mine is blissful,
For the Almighty did great things for me;
He impregnated my soul.

Holy is his name, through the centuries runs his blessing
For those who, because of love, remain faithful to Him.

Sublime and untouched is the Most High,
Almighty is the power of his arm;
He scatters the proud, destroys those who only think of themselves,
Turns down the throne of those who only believe in their own power,
And lifts the humble, the simple, the pure and loving hearts up to his Kingdom.
He showers with his gifts those who remain silent before him.

The Most High never gives up his children who serve him with wisdom and love. Amen.

It’s an ancient word, a prayer said by Mother Mary. It was not only said by her, but also by all the women who were pregnant in the Essene community. Actually, one must become aware that the Essene, Nazarene community gave a communal Teaching, a Teaching for the entire humanity, and that  Mary was not regarded as a superior woman. She had important responsibilities, but she was not regarded as a woman other than an other woman. All the women who were expecting were respected and practiced the same Teachings than the Mother mary

“Nazarene” means “consecrated to God”, and also “the one who knows the hidden things”. This universal brotherhood, which is not characteristic of the Jewish people, knew the secrets of the impregnation of the soul, and regarded the fact that a woman was pregnant as something deeply mystical. They didn’t fix their attention on the fact a woman was expecting; for them, the woman represented a much higher secret than the woman as human being. For them, the woman represented the soul, the hidden soul, the pure soul, the virgin soul, and also the Earth—the Earth which is like a soul, reflection of the universal soul, in which all the souls (for example, the souls of the flowers, of the trees, of the animals, all the souls, even the souls of the angels) can appear as a unity of one same substance, which is the universal soul. This substance is like impregnated by rays of the Very-High, like rays of the sun. This soul was called “Ma” in the ancient mysteries, and gave the name “Maya” — that is, the great illusion; it gave also the name “Mary”: “Ry”, “Ra”, or “Re” is the Ray of the universal Mother.

So, in this Essene brotherhood-sisterhood, the woman, and notably the pregnant woman, was regarded, not only as a pregnant woman, but as the symbol, the writing, and the hieroglyph of the mysteries of the entire cosmos, and even of the mysteries of Universe and evolution. All the secrets, the secrets of Isis and of the woman were contained in the pregnant woman.

St. John, who was Lazarus the Essene, reveals these secrets in the Book of Revelation when a being comes and tells him: “I will show you the mysteries of the woman.” Then he talks about the great prostitute and about the spouse for the wedding of the lamb. The great prostitute is the soul that has given birth to the personality, the ego, separated from the Very-High and doing as it pleases.

So you see, this was an entire universe, not only made of words, but much more of realities: one didn’t need to talk about it, one just had to see a pregnant woman, and straightaway one had all these mysteries of the cosmos in front of oneself. In the same way, one now just needs to see the letters of the alphabet to know the word; one doesn’t need to talk about it, this is something which lives within the soul.

This Essene prayer is all the more important for our time since things happen in the atmosphere of the Earth. And one should know them, as the saying says: “Forewarned is forearmed.” Things happen, things that are in connection with this prayer, with the mysteries of the woman — which concern men also of course.

“Within the Most-High, my soul blossoms, leaps for joy at the sight of the ascendant path. What is on high came to meet what is below, and the Most-High has impregnated my soul by his look full of light.”
You see, this is so beautiful…

“Out of all the generations, mine is blissful, for the Almighty did great things for me; He impregnated my soul by his ray.”
The question is: “Who can say this at our time?”
Of course, a woman in order to become pregnant is impregnated by a ray. But here, the prayer talks about the soul which is in the deepest; all things considered, about our soul, which, turned toward the Most-High, leaps for joy and sees the ascendant path. This is not an illusion, the path of awakening, ennoblement, and transformation is not an illusion. I see it or I don’t see it, but there is no illusion, there is no belief; it is the experience of a soul that tells what it lives.

“Holy is his name; throughout the centuries runs his blessing for those who, because of love, remain faithful to Him.”
Here, the Essene community says: “Throughout the centuries, we incessantly become incarnate, not by a dead filiation, but because we are faithful to the Very-High and because we dedicate our lives to Him. We dedicate our lives not in order to find something, but because we cannot do it in another way, because we see the reality: the Very-High, Love, Wisdom, and Intelligence fill the cosmos. He is the Source of existence, I am within Him, by my life. I am not the Master of my life, I am not the one who has created my life.”
